Life in the Coral Reef…

…is beautiful.  What vibrant colors!  It was very interesting watching live coral…move…float…it’s like when you dip your hair in the swimming pool and it floats…

OK.  The hair is still attached to your head.  Nothing spoils a good mood like a loose hair ANYWHERE!  Yuck!

I was captivated by this little yellow fish!  I took THREE pictures of him.  The exhibit tank was quite wide and in the other corner we could watch the coral capture the smaller fish.  Interesting.  The coral emits something like a sticky substance to capture fish.  Pretty cool.  Sometimes the fish would break loose.  That sticky substance must be like caramel or chocolate…the poor fish kept coming back for more.  {sigh}

That’s a little alpha!  Teeny tiny!  It’s SU! Naturally Serif.  I even dotted the “i”.  I do like the alpha…a lot.  I ran the letters through Xyron to attach.  I dotted the “i”‘s with Mono Multi.  😀

We visited the CARGO HOLD Gift Shop…love that name!  I scrapped my patch and the packaging.  I thought the packaging was neat!  It also makes a great transition from this page to the companion page.

The companion page is the page I showed on Monday.  Here they are together:

SUPPLIES for Today’s page:
Paper: Cameo Coral, Brushed Silver, Taken with Teal
Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot, Naturally Serif Alphabet, Xyron, Mono Multi, Sticky Strip

Thanks for stopping by!

Schooling Fish

School?!?  What school?!?  It’s Fall Break.

We took a trip to Gatlinburg TN to visit Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.  We’re on break…fish are still in school.

ROFL!

tee hee

The top photo is a postcard.  I stamped the Modern Label from Favorite Things in Yo Yo Yellow on Yo Yo Yellow…and labeled them Coral Reef Fish.  Wonder what the next page will be?  😀

That middle picture…psst…is really two pictures.  I had a picture of this aquarium with DS.  But there was that anooying light bulb dot!  So I cut DS out of the other picture and popped him up on this one!  Brilliant?  😀

I’m really in a silly mood.

Third picture is Mom and DS viewing a tank of “Schooling Fish”.  Pretty cool.  They even had a sign at the top…”Schooling Fish”.

The tunnel was really nice and very relaxing.  A lady on SCS left me a comment…she said she took her Church youth group to a sleepover at the Aquarium.  They slept in the shark tunnel!  How awesome!  To relax…lay there in your sleeping bag…watching the sharks and rays…so relaxing.  Cool!

I’m really liking the hodge podge of letters.  I ran out of glue dots!  Yikes.  So I got out the Mono Multi.  As I had read…a little dab’ll do ya!…I did a little dab and smeared it around.  I love Mono Multi for adhering little chipboard letters!  You gotta try it!  A little dab’ll do ya and that little bottle should last forever!

This is a Sally Sketch (SBSC209) just posted on Friday.  I flipped it and omitted some elements.  That’s allowed.  And I had a good reason.  Here’s the companion page:

Details in THIS post.  Now together…

Two stand alone pages…two stand along titles…that go together quite nicely, I think.

Whatcha think?

Our day at the aquarium…

…wouldn’t not have been complete without a ride through the shark / ray tunnel!  Awesome…fantabuluous!  Wonderful!

This has to be the neatest thing.  Like walking into a fish tank.  The sharks…”regular sharks” and “saw nose sharks”…stingrays…beautiful…swimming above us.  The neatest thing…we didin’t even have to WALK.  There was a conveyor belt that just carried us along.

I picked up the designer paper and the die cut shark the day before our aquarium visit at the Scrapbook Superstore in Sevierville TN.  I found a Sally Sketch (SBSC 174) with circular elements and this just came together.  I was able to use my SU! Circle Scissors!  Love that tool!  I wish it was bigger.  Hahaha…I want some 12 inch circles and rings.  {pout, pout}

The journaling block is from the retired SU! Journaling Fun…one of the very first SU! sets I purchased.  This is the first time I’ve actually used the spiral journaling stamp to journal…pretty cool!  I used some SU! Brushed Sliver CS, paired with Taken with Teal and a pinch of Cameo Coral.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! Journaling Fun (retired)
Paper: Reminisce At the Aquarium, SU! Brushed Silver, SU! Taken with Teal, SU! Cameo Coral
Ink: SU! Taken with Teal Classic
Accessories: Shark die cut (Scrapbook Superstore), SU! Circle Scissors, Glue Dots, Sticky Strip, Black Zip Journaler, Pop Dots

WOW!

One word to sum up a visit to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies…WOW!

I love this page for several reasons.  I purchased the paper and the fish die cut the day before at the Scrapbook Superstore in Sevierville TN.  I think I made an excellent choice, seeing that it goes so well with our group picture.  I love this group picture!  I was able to also scrap the ticket stubs.  One ticket is flush with the page; the second is tilted and popped up with pop dots.

Notice the googlie eyes in the “O” of WOW?  DS said it needed a “mouth”…so out came my “school punch” and a little pop dot!  LOL

I’m loving my Big Shot and the Serif Essentials Alphabet.  It’s a large size alphabet…larger than I thought it would be, but it’s useable.  I ram the letters through Xyron…aka sticker machine.  Love that thing, too!

Supplies:
Stamps: None.
Paper: Reminisce Under The Sea – The Aquarium, PTI White, SU! Yo Yo Yellow
Ink: None.
Accessories: SU! Photo Corner Punch, Big Shot, Serif Essentials Alphabet, Googlie Eyes, Glue Dots, Xyron, Pop Dots, Sticky Strip, MS Word (for journaling), 1/4″ punch

It’s been a very long time…

…since I’ve made a scrapbook page!  Boy, it feels good to be back!  😀  And on my 40th birthday, too!

We just returned from a trip to Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg TN.  This trip was my 40th birthday present from Mom.  Does Mom spoil me or what?  I had a great time!  One place we visited was Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies…I should have several pages to share once I have these scrapped.

First off…the Amazon Basin exhibit.  Holy Cow!  There’s all kinds of “friendly” fish in the Amazon Basin!  Red bellied piranhas!  It said…they only attack sick or injured animals; can attack humans when HUNGRY or threatened.  Good thing they feed these at the aquarium!

More Thinking & Trendy Trees

I guess I”m on a “Trendy Trees” kick.  While I had this set out, I created another CAS (Clean And Simple) card using this stamp set.
The skettch is from SCS SC214.  I started with a Whisper White card base, added a strip of Good Morning Sunshine DSP.  Punched three Chocolate Chip squares with a 1 3/8″ square punch.  I stamped the trees on Whisper White with the assistance of the SAMJ using Chocolate Chip and Summer Sun Classic Ink.  Those were punched with the 1 1/4″ square punch.
SUPPLIES:
Stamps – Trendy Trees
Paper – Whisper White, Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Chocolate Chip
Ink – Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun
Accessories – 1 3/8″ square punch, 1 1/4″ square punch, sticky strip, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

Thinking of You

I’ve been fluttering around…wondering HOW I was going to get back into creating.  So I CASED this card I had saved to my favorites.

I received Trendy Trees as a SAB award.  What a cute little tree set.  Color combo is Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Garden Green and Pumpkin Pie – a color combo from SU! In-Color Cobor Combos collection.  Not only did I use some of my favorite colors, I was able to use my Big Shot and the Oval Scallop Die.   I used post it notes to mask the top portion of the oval, then brayered on Garden Green for the grass.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the trees and the sentiment in Chocolate Chip.  Used the SAMJ again to stamp the leaves.

That pumpkin pie tree over to the right is a showing off.  ::wink::

A CAS card that I hope will brighten someone’s day!

Prehistoric Brentwood

This card satisfies SIX DTGD (Dare to Get Dirty) 2009 challenges! I don’t usually do the Dirty Dozen challenges, but for some reason I did this year. I was also off work the week they started. That had to have something to do with it.

#1 – CHALLENGE: Sketch Challenge

#2 – CHALLENGE: Make a masculine card following these: ONE piece of pattern paper, TWO stamps, and THREE colors (white or cream neutral does not count toward the colors)

#3 – CHALLENGE: Create a scene

#4 – CHALLENGE: Paper Tole

#5 – CHALLENGE: Create a project with an animal theme. Think animal images, animal prints and backgrounds, faux fur, jungle, farm, pet-themed projects, etc.

#6 – CHALLENGE: Make a card inspired by music.

I’ve had this card created by stampwithdiane in my favorites for a while. I usually remove the favorites after I case them & link them to my creation. This one is still in my favorites. I think I need to do something else inspired by stampwithdiane’s card.

Music inspiration: Wild thing…you make my heart sing! And I have visions of Charlie Sheen singing this. I have no idea why! I don’t even like Charlie Sheen! Now Johnny Depp…that’s a fine, fine piece of work. (wiping off drool)

My picture looks better. I made me a makeshift light box by taping together PTI White cardstock.

Double Trouble, that is.

Isn’t this image from Whipper Snapper just the most adorable thing? I received the image and the patterned paper quite a while ago via SCS Wish RAK. I created this card several years ago and just recently sent it as a birthday card. Inside I wrote, “Have fun on your birthday!” I mean, doesn’t this pup look like he’s having fun?
