“Yes it is,” said Mr. Mason.
ha ha
I love Perry Mason. You can find him on Hallmark each Sunday afternoon and again, with the same show, that evening.
This was one of the older shows…Della Street had dark grey hair and Paul Drake (swoon) was the P.I. Mom had told me that the actor that plays Paul Drake is Barbara Hale’s (Della Street’s) son. I always thought that was so cool.
I guess Perry Mason reminds me of my Senior year High School English / Literature teacher – Mr. Blair. He was quite a formidable character. He was a BIG man, gruff and called everyone Mr. this & Ms. that. I can just HEAR him bellow “Beowulf!” Ugh. Have I mentioned I hated Lit?
Anyway…how about some close ups of the projects I posted yesterday. Here’s some really yummy eye candy.
Yummy, huh? These are RSVP pens. Paper is from a Provo Craft slab. Cut DP 1 3/8″ by 3 3/8″. Run through Xyron and attached to a wiped down pen. Wiped down – wiped with my t’shirt to remove finger prints, oils, etc. Then attached sticky sheet cut in the same size, heated with heat gun, and rolled in beads.
Tied a piece of striped ribbon on the cap & viola!
I tried something new (to me) with the ribbon. I received this ribbon in one of TexasJodyLynn’s ribbon shares. I colored one stripe of white with a Copic marker (the color matches SU! Pretty in Pink). I’ll have to look that code up…
Enjoy!
I participated in a “spending challenge” in the SCS Flybaby Forum. Basically, the challenge was to go one month (May) without spending for any stamping related items. Fourteen participated in the challenge – each individual set goals. The ultimate purpose of the challenge was to use what we already have. Ya know…those stamps that haven’t seen ink…all that DP (dew drops, primas, whatever) you’re hoarding…
Mine was NO craft supply spending – that means no stamps, no embellishments, no ribbon, no designer paper, etc. I did spend on storage, as I was organizing my craft supplies.
Some individuals were very motivated in May to craft, craft, craft. Not me. 🙁
I guess I was too overwhelmed by the “mess”.
June rolled around…and WOW. I still haven’t spent anything on crafting supplies. (insert shocked eyeballs here!) I, as did some others, volunteered to send something to the May spending challenge participants. In keeping with the spirit of Flylady, I wanted to create something useful without spending any additional money. Take a look.
It was all in a day’s work. Really – it took eight hours to create all that stuff!
Need a closer look?
Stay tuned for information on individual projects.
I received the ribbon from Wish-RAK – I believe this came from NDStamper in our Color Me exchange. Guess what my color was?

I’ve not grown up. (big grin) I remember my childhood excitement over a new toy or a new anything. Nowadays, I get apprehensive about new electronic toys and appliances – they DO have a learning curve, but I DO love my electronic gadgets. Oh…the conflicting emotions.
However, new SU! toys arrived on Monday. Yippiee! I put together this card for the SU! Team Swap on Sunday.
I love this card! There’s no way I can make 13 of these exact same cards. (Twelve for the swap & one for me!) I cut into my 6 x 6 Hostess Prints Pack – there’s only two 6 x 6 sheets of that particular pattern. See the strawberry bloom…I’d be B R O K E trying to come up with that many of the exact same bloom, not to mention the Felt Fusion behind the bloom. No worries on the rub ons…I think I have EIGHT packs of those SAB Love & Happiness Rub Ons! There’s duplicates of several designs on a sheet. This year’s SAB stamp sets just didn’t enthuse me, but oh well. It’s a good thing I love those Rub Ons!
Since the Tart & Tangy set has four fruits, I’ve decided to make similar cards with all four fruits, simply changing the color, while using the same type of supplies. I hope it will qualify as 12 swap cards. I’ll make four of four designs (three cards of four designs for the swap, one card of each design for me). Guess I better email my upline (the hostess) and see if that will be OK.
Stay tuned for the next fruit.
Here’s the recipe:
Stamps: Tart & Tangy
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Hostess Prints Pack
Ink: Real Red, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: SAB Rub Ons (Love & Happiness in Old Olive), Felt Fusions (Old Olive), Pretties Kit, Summer Sun Brads, Red Gingham, Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain, Slit Punch, Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Basic Grey Rub On Tool, Martha Stewart Glue Pen, Chunky Glitter (Occasions Mini ’08)
Techniques: Paper Piecing, Glitter, Punch
I’ve just been too busy. Weather has been wacky! A couple of days after the tornado, we had an ice storm. Then the following week, sleet. Ugh.
I finally ordered something from the new Spring / Summer SU! Catalog AND preorder from the Occasions Mini. It arrived last night! Along with my order from Ecelctic Paperie – new fun flock and the Basic Grey Rub On Tool. Just in time too…cuz for my SAB sets – I chose ALL rub ons. So I now have 8 sets of the rub ons from the Occasions Mini (holy cow!) I love the new Basic Grey Rub On Tool. It’s worth the six dollars!
I was playing with Die Cut Blooms, Summer Time Rub Ons, Tart and Tangy, Flower Fusion and the Chunky Sprinkles. I pulled out some Fire Brads and the Prettys kit. Some of these are elements / supplies I’m using for my card for a SU! Team Swap. I need 12 swap cards for Sunday.
I want to play with my toys! But I’m at work…ya know…the public job. It’s tax season and do I need to say more?
I knew a bad storm was coming Tuesday. It hit on Wednesday morning about 12:30 AM. It woke my husband up at 1:00 AM. We soon learned that a EF-2 touched down twice beginning near Cecilia KY – which is near where we live. We live in the midst of Rineyville and Cecilia, but closer to Rineyville. The twister went up Hwy 62 and hit Central Hardin High School. So there was NO school yesterday. School is in session today, but not at Central Hardin. The sports fields, bleachers, press boxes, fences on the football & baseball fields – gone. The freshman wing heavily damages and the gym roof has several holes in it. ($175K floor)
South Elizabethtown & Downtown did not have electricity for quite a while. News crews commented on how strange it was to drive into the city & there were NO lights. I’m sure that felt really funny. I work on the other side of Elizabethtown, live near Rineyville – so no personal damange. We had no deaths in our area, but the twister cut a 10 mile swath from Cecilia, went back up in the air & came down on the other side of downtown. We had a lot of rain, the ground is really soft.
And we just had a twister in January of 2006 on the north end of the county. We were in Wal-mart when this New Years Day sucker hit. All of a sudden there was a “black alert” or something. I asked what that? TORNADO. Oh —-! My husband was in the truck (in the parking lot) & watched that sucker march across the sky. He had to come into the store to get us. That was one time I wish my cell phone was CHARGED so I could have called him.
Anyway, back to yesterday…this is Hardin County KY. There were deaths in other KY counties and states. I believe Tennessee was the hardest hit – what with college dorms being destroyed and the gas fire. I learned an Elizabethtown resident was living in those dorms that were destroyed. The same storm that hit her hometown, destroys her college dorm.
In neighboring Meade County, Brandenburg (the county seat) has been closed to all but essential personnel. The governor has been here (Elizabethtown) & he said compared to the other areas, the Heartland (that’s us) was lucky.
I have been wondering about all my cyberfriends who live in the affected areas. I hope everyone made it through OK.
I had a wish for a Whipper Snapper Bunny. It has been quite a while since I have had a wish from Wish RAK granted. What a pleasant surprise then, yesterday to have received this adorable image in the mail from Peanutbee!
The name of the image is Floppy Bunny from Whipper Snapper. He’s adorable. (Have I said that already?) I colored him using SU! Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I also used a watercolor brush I received from my friend Karen in a secret exchange.
After watercoloring the bunny, I sponged Blue Bayou on the outside & mounted the image on Blue Bayou CS. The designer paper is from Basic Grey Two Scoops 6 x 6 paper pad. One design is mounted on Wild Wasabi and the other on Pretty in Pink. The ribbon I received in one of TexasJodyLynn’s ribbon shares – it’s a 3/4″ grosgrain and a 1/4″ grosgrain. The sketch is from Sketch Challenge 91 – I flipped the sketch for this card. The focal image is mounted with pop dots.
I used Caramel Latte Tan Fun Flock to accent the bunny, Cotton Candy Stickles for the ears, Sakura Souffle’ in Pink for the paw pads. I applied Sakura Glaze in Clear to the nose and the bow. Using glue dots, I attached Peridot Swarovski Crystals to the centers of the diamond pattern in the DP shown in the top panel. The green makes that blue pop.
I love this card – it contains all my favorite things. I love the colors and that adorable bunny!

Here are some things I like to remember when doing the brayered sky background. Rather than having a note floating around somehwere, I thought, why not post it on my blog. Now, I didn’t come up with all of these ideas by myself. Some I read on SplitcoastStampers, others I discovered while working on my projects. I’m just compiling information for reference.
These are thing I have found work for me and things I’d like to remember to try.
Things that work for me:
- Roll brayer on scrap paper first to lighten the color.
- Use a torn paper mask for each layer – keeps from getting the straight line; it’s hard to blend out that straight line.
- Use a sponge to blend colors – using the darker color of the layer above, sponge that color onto the lighter color to blend the “line”. Repeat with the next color and layer. I use the yellow sponge from SU!, cut into quarters.
- Let the project “set”. It WILL look better in the morning.
Things to try:
- Use glossy paper.
- Use cosmetic sponge. This is a denser sponge than the yellow SU! sponge.
- Use spectrum / rainbow ink pads. I have two on order…if they would just get here!
Some color combos to try:
- Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Not Quite Navy (tried this – love it)
- Barely Banana, Groovy Guava, Ruby Red
I’d really love some more color combos to try!
I love this! Brayered sky & brayered grass! The tree is from JessicaLynnOriginal’s Relaxation Tree for All Seasons, due to be released on Feburary 1. Stamped in Chocolate Chip, colored with Copic Markers. I received Fluffles Leap from Wish RAK. I cut out Fluffles and two piles of leaves. Colored with Copic Markers. The red toned leaves were accented with Sakura Glaze Pen in Clear. Colors for the brayered sky: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Night of Navy. Colors for the brayered grass: Mellow Moss, Garden Green & Handsome Hunter.Tricks used in creating brayered sky – roll on scrap paper first and sponge the lines with the darker color from the layer above.
Stamps: JLO Relaxation Tree for All Seasons, Fluffles Leap
Paper: Paper Trey White, Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy
Ink: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Night of Navy, Mellow Moss, Garden Green, Handsome Hunter, Black, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Copic Markers, Sponge, Brayer, Sakura Glaze Pen Clear, Xyron
Techniques: Brayered Sky
This was the very first image I created with JLO’s Relaxation Tree for All Seasons. I was not happy with the image I had created. I thought the brayered sky was ugly, the black tree was stark. It sat on my desk for almost a week. It started to look better. I’ve always said that brayered skies need to “set”. Soon, I grabbed the white gel pen & added some snow. Propped it up & looked at it for the next two nights. Last night, I decided to add some expensive white dust bunnies…uhhhh…white fun flock. I used my Martha Stewart Glue Pen to apply the Fun Flock. Then I grabbed the snowflake from the Relaxation Tree for All Seasons set and stamped snowflakes in SU!’s Whisper White Craft. I stamped over that with Palette Glue and dumped the dazzling diamonds.
About two Christmases ago, Dale got me a new coffeepot for Christmas. This one has a cone filter…the old one had a basket filter. So I have this almost full package of basket filters. I have been using these filters as embossing powder & glitter trays. They work GREAT! I still use the plastic pans for the “dust bunnies”.
Back to my project…the main image is mounted on Basic Black. Stamped more snowflakes in Whisper White on the Night of Navy card base.
Brayered sky colors are Going Gray, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy. Tree was stamped in Archival Jet Black, colored with Copic 100 Black.
It’s very simple…peaceful…
Relaxation Tree for All Seasons is among 10 stamp sets to be released by JessicaLynnOriginals on February 1!
