MSM’s Merry Christmas + Paint

I’m so in love with the acrylic paint in the cool tubes from Studio Calico’s Color Theory line.

Let me tell you a story.

My vision, inspired by a card from the Send Joy class taught by Lisa Spangler.

Firstly, I had none of the supplies for the card demonstrated in the class.  As a master counterfeiter (ahem) with a Silhouette cut file and a masked a portion of a sentiment from the SU! stamp set Christmas Greetings, I was good to go!
I love the die cut “Christmas” backed with SU! Cherry Cobbler, cut using my lovely Cameo.   Using my handy stamp-a-ma-jig, I positioned “Merry” and stamped it in SC Color Theory Emerald City.   Not my favorite green, but it is a really nice green for Christmas cards!  Then I squished some of that same not so favorite green into my tray, grabbed a paint brush and got to swathing paint!  I had only die cut four cards…and ooops, I had way too much paint in my tray.  Since it comes in nifty cool tubes, there was no way to “save” it, nor was I washing it down the drain.  I decided to use the rest on six more card bases and eventually came up with this:
This one might be my favorite of the three.  Funny how that works out.
When I was gluing sequins on the die cut card, I didn’t realize that T-2 (cat) had knocked one of the die cut cards off the desk until I was all set & done!  So, I wound up one like this:
I just call that my “less” version.  I sorta like it better than the “more” version.  And I really have a thing for sequins.  Hmmm…
That other green is called Mint Hint, another “favorite” (ahem) green of mine.  However, I will say, again, that they look moo’valous together on a Christmas card.
Green is my favorite color.  However, I tend to lean towards a true John Deere green and a more yellow green than blue green.  I do not like SU! Certainly Celery or any relatives, such as Mint Hint.  LOL.  That may change.  Who knows.  But I did get rid of every single sheet of SU! Certainly Celery I had.  Maybe it reminds me of limp, stringy celery and “ants on a log.”
Well, that’s 10 more fun, easy & WOW Christmas cards.  Bonus points for flat & easy mailing!

MSM’s Solemn Stillness

I’m in the Christmas card making / challenge participation / sharing mood.  Today’s project features the Stampin’ Up! Solemn Stillness stamp set  (Can you hear the Christmas hymn?) and a traditional Christmas color combination with gold accents!

This is no one layer wonder; however, it will ship flat, a feature helps greatly when sending out bunches of Christmas cards to the individuals on our Christmas card list! The “WOW!” factor comes from the Zing Glitter Gold embossing powder; add to that, gold sequin stars, gold cord and a brushed gold cardstock panel.
The card size is 6 x 4.5.  There are some vanilla envelopes I wish to use and I wanted to maximize the usage of a precious 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock.   LOL.
I love the stamped off tree image and I definitely love the gold trim!

MSM’s Be Merry

Today’s CAS (Clean And Simple) challenge over on SCS focuses on non-traditional Christmas cards. I am taking a class over on Studio Calico called “Send Joy”, taught by Lisa Spangler.  This is a CASE of one of three cards she demonstrated, using a cool ink technique!

This non traditional Christmas card has a trendy vibe with its two toned (blue / green) triangles that serve as evergreen trees.   It is definitely CAS in design, containing white space upon which the eye can rest.

This was a fun challenge using something other than the traditional red + green for Christmas cards or white + blue for Winter Holiday cards.

MSM’s Jubilee – Laundry Boy

Here’s another layout created using the Jubilee ebook kit.  I created five 12 x 12 layouts and 4 project life spreads with this kit, supplemented with items from my stash.  You can find other Jubilee ebook projects here:  Other Jubilee Projects
The boy was set to go to State Fire School.  He was afraid I would not get his laundry done in time.  (rolling eyes)  So, he announced he was going to learn to do laundry.  I was impressed.

It was quite an adventure using burlap on a layout.  Dale is right, it has a smell.  LOL.  AND, nothing sticks to it.  But I already figured the lack of stickiness part before I got started.  **wink**  The smell started to get to me after a while tho.
Stitching was oh so fun.  **wink**  Burlap is full of holes.  And I needed to punch the paper.  In a straight line, in the form of a square, from the backside, making sure the stuff that would not stick on while I stitched would fit in AFTER I stitched.  I had way too many tabs open in my mind while I stitched this.  LOL.  But, I got it and it was OK.  Nothing like a good challenge.
I’m so glad the stitching turned out so well.  I stitched down all the veneer that is on the burlap.  Other things were taped to paper that was stapled through all layers.
I love the Signo white gel pen.  Just don’t stock up on them.  Get a couple and use them, because they are so nice and smooth when they are fresh.  I purchased these two using a subscriber special / discount during subscriber reveal over at Studio Calico a couple of months ago.  It is the best white gel pen I have used.  Stampin’ Up! sells these as well.  A fresh white gel pen is like fresh bread or fresh chips, fresh tomatoes or strawberries or blueberries….can’t beat ’em.

MSM’s You Make Life Sparkle

July 4, 2006 – I love these photos of Phillip with the sparklers!

Technique: 12 x 12 watercolor paper was painted with SC Color Theory Deja Blue acrylic paint – I love this stuff! It is a nice thick acrylic paint that dries with a wonderfully rich sheen. It comes in these super cool silver tubes.  I think I’m in love.  With 10 tubes of acrylic paint.

When the paint dried, I flung some drops of Mister Huey Inky Black and added a couple of spritzes.

This is a favorite layout!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a moo’vlaous day!

Jubilee – SMILE!

During June’s “last call” over at Studio Calico, there it was:  the Jubilee e-book & kit, regularly $39.99 on special for $9.99.  EEK!  I snatched it up!  When it was all said and done, I have 5 12 x 12 layouts and 4 weekly project life spreads.  Not too shabby for a $9.99 kit.  The e-book is pretty cool also.  AND, (I know…there’s more) the kit & kaboodle came with digital cut files & printables!
Okey dokey.  Project!  And I’m posting these backwards!  LOL.  So, up first is the last project I made, with the remaining scraps.  heeee!  I didn’t waste nuthin!  I squeezed every.  last.  penny.  out of that kit!  I really enjoyed this kit!  I had been eyeing it for quite some time and a couple times almost bought it.  I’m glad I waited.

I don’t normally scrap purple.  But, I had scraps to use up & they were purple.  LOL.  I supplemented the e-book kit items with Studio Calico 12 x 12 paper from the Color Theory collection and some basic Studio Calico grid design 12 x 12 paper; some other color theory items (buttons, sequins, enamel dots); and items from past Studio Calico kits (Thickers & washi tape).

I do love these colors!  Purple was Grandma’s favorite; green has always been mine!  And silver…I just love it!

That’s me, back in February 2014, showing off a new haircut.  Danielle is a whiz with the flat-iron! Me, not so much.  And I love my hair flat-ironed!

This makes me smile!

PL Week 21 – South of Market

My first project using Studio Calico’s new collection:  SOUTH OF MARKET.

PL Week 22 – Stitching Fun!

Project Life – Week 22:  I felt like stitching!  I used some bright and cheerful paper someone RAK’d me many moons ago.  I cut some 3×4 cards, dug out my stitching templates, DMC floss and got comfy!  It was so relaxing.  Here’s a pile on my desk!

How stinking cute is that fox / cat?

The butterflies were OY! pains to stitch and the arrows so soothing.  Next to the fox / cat, I love love love the flower.  (I know, right?  Mollymoo loves a WHAT?!?!  How many times you seen me paper craft with a **coughcough** flower?)

Now for the week.

I was in the drive thru line @ KFC, bored, so I read the bottom of my OPI nail polish bottle. STRAWBERRY MARGARITA.  huh?  Really?  Nah.  I looked again.  dang.  STRAWBERRY MARGARITA.  I immediately texted my manicurist / stylist…I have my FAVORITE drink on my fingernails!  She said I was crazy.  Hmmm…I bet she wondered how long it would take me to realize I had a bottle of STRAWBERRY MARGARITA.  No wonder she looked at me funny every time she told me the name.  I was so not paying attention.  Geez.  LOL.  Anyway,  that day, I also noticed it matches my new summer purse!  Notice also, that I had dripped on my Kindle…hmmm…

What a bright & cheerful weekly spread it turned out to be!  Lovely!

Phillip is FOUR

The birthday boy is FOUR!

This is my second layout in recent days using Studio Calico’s 2013 Atlantic Collection.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a moo’valous day!

almost THREE

Is she cute or what?
I prepped my paper with gesso.  Then I fussy cut a sheet of patterned paper from the SC Atlantic Collection, a sheet with all those circles.  I adhered the cut out with gel medium and outlined the circles with Neocolor ii crayons.  Using a watercolor brush, blended the color.  I misted the with Mr. Huey, added my photo and embellished with items from the Atlantic Collection.
