VERVE Happiness

I participated in the week long stamp boot camp…I mean the annual Dare to Get Dirty 2013 for the Fan Club members over on SplitCoastStampers!  I won a prize.  Actually, I won TWO prizes.  One was an extension of my Fan Club membership.  The second was a VERVE gift certificate.  I was a VERVE virgin.  Was.
It took me a week or so to decide what to get.  VERVE is totally different from any other stamps I have.  That’s not bad.  That’s expanding ya horizons.  Gettin’ outta ya box.  Stuff like that.  Along the way, I found a stamp or two or three that reflect my philosophy on life.  Things like “life is a journey, not a destination.”  I think I need that made into a stamp.  I digress.

I found this:  “Happiness is found along the way – not at the end of the road.”  Sol Gordon.  Perfect.

I used this week’s SCS sketch, flipped; more SC Marks & Co plus stash!  I love the boldness of the orange…and the seafoam green.  I made a PL card; I believe I’m gonna use this as a reminder / motivator for myself…tack it up in a place where I will see it and remember.

Let me show you how my order arrived.

Um…HELLO, sparkles!
The invoice is on the inside of this folded card!
My PRIZE!  These were the items I selected.

Let me show you what I made again.  😉

Wheel Power

I purchased a sheet of designer paper from the Studio Calico’s HERE and THERE collection for a specific purpose.   It feels so good to use it!

Bicycle paper!  The paper is quite busy.  I used handbook inserts (Last Call – sale!) and three sheets from the HERE and THERE 6 x 6 pad.  I used a sketch from the TOOLBOX Classroom over @ Studio Calico, but the sketch was larger than my photo would allow, so I matted the “sketch” on the chocolate chip!

When I get all the paper down, I have to get out my 12 cup muffin pan and my wood veneer storage box and GO TO TOWN dropping things on the layout!  I knew I wanted to use the wood veneer bikes…and oh…look @ those arrows…I can make a bike trail!  And I have to add sequins.  I now have a sequin is-shoe.  I put sequins on everything!  ahem.

I decided to do some stitching as well, enhancing the “air waves”.  LOL.  Maybe that’s wind.  The handbook inserts are thick to pierce and stitch through.  I used three strands of black DMC floss.  I’m learning more and more about stitching on paper; practice makes perfect!

I love the banner & the hot air balloon and the cut out air waves, I mean wind.  Love the colors – turquoise, pumpkin pie, light blue, chocolate chip!

I love that kiddo sitting on the bike.  He was almost 10.  He learned to ride his motorcycle when he was almost six.  Years later, he learned to ride a bicycle with no motor.  And I wonder why he likes motorized things.  LOL.

September UNITY Challenge

I’m so glad I learned about these UNITY {be inspired} Challenges!

The challenge:  September UNITY {be inspired} Challenge  I love the inspiration picture…the cool aqua set against the warm colors of fall…with the pop of the white fence & trim on the house!  The sketch is great for showcasing some beautiful patterned paper.

My take:

First, I dug out my Unity KOTM for August 2012:  COLOR of the seasons.  Then I dug out my Studio Calico Central High kits.  I love the result!  I love the layers; I love the sentiment / tag / speech bubble cluster!  I love the apple paperclip!  The aqua is just gorgeous peeking out!

August UNITY Challenge

I was inspired by the colors and loved the simplicity of the sketch.  The patterned paper shines in this sketch.

The challenge:  August Unity {be inspired} Challenge

My project:

I’m trying to kill the Valley High Scrapbook kit AND the Card kit, so I’ve used the papers from that kit.  Add some sequins and veneer hearts.  The sentiment is Unity, from June 2012 KOTM “sweet summer love”.   That cream panel is a Project Life card from the Turquoise cardstock collection.

On the inside, greeting is SU!; crosshatching with the red hearts is from the same Unity KOTM.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a moo’valous day!

sit down.  I made a card.  LOL.  I was inspired by the MFT Sketch #130.  I pulled out my Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic 6 x 6 pad and…you still sitting?  I colored!

I love the colors!  I love that Sugar Chic paper pad!  The buttons are from my stash!  I did have fun coloring.  I was in a coloring mood the other night.  And that sketch, was just right!

I finished the card up by fixing up the inside!

a SWELL mis-adventure

I scrapped these photos exactly three years to the day of the event!  March 24, 2010.

For March, our theme is GET WELL.  Of course, I had to make a page.  The boy got his foot hung between a four-wheeler tire and the four wheeler body while the four wheeler was moving.  OUCH!  Swelled up like a butterball…and four days later…it was green / yellow / purple / red.

The sketch is from Studio Calico Sunday Sketch (03.24.13).   I pulled items from my stash, from Studio Calico Front Row Add-ons Popcorn & Junior Mints and Block Party Add-on Pioneer Drive.

I had fun with this.  The photos, Walgreens had a 8 x 10 FREE collage print promo; so I ordered the collage, thinking I would scrap it as one piece.  Then I picked up the print, saw the sketch and decided to cut it apart!  I’m glad I did.  I really like the page.

….and the star of the show…

FOOD!  What else?  food.

I fixed that “E”.  😉  No time to retake the photo after I got it all edited.  No way.  Just imagine the “E” is chocolate.  😉  Cuz, it is now.  LOL.

Lots of things going on here.  Is it cohesive?  hmmm…Bright Ideas #6 – Ad Inspiration…using Front Row scrapbook kit, Popcorn add-on and Junior Mints add-on.  That aqua printed chipboard…is from Snippets!  and if you can find it…the lemon twist divine twine!

Definitely lots of product…and piles of enamel dots.  I love enamel dots.  I have an enamel dot is-shoe.  I love them.

Lots & lots of layers…and I love the picture of the Halloween Bash buffet!  That’s not glare on the pic of the girl in the blue…that’s string that was hanging & I took the picture “through”.

This month, the stampin’ Flybabies focused on crafty projects with a FOOD theme.  I think this fits the bill.

dead end cemetery

ah…yes.  more halloween bash 2006 pages!

This is bright idea #5 – color pop!  Can ya tell I’m loving Studio Calico’s February 2013 class, Bright Ideas?

For this one, I used Classic Calico Vol 3 items, Front Row add-on kit items (Junior Mints & Big Screen) and a Sally Sketch (SBSC311).

One of the Boy Scouts came dressed as the grim reaper.  LOL.  So he hid in the cemetery & I took pictures.  I love that skeleton pirate with the grass hair!

Here’s the list of supplies:
  • Paper: SU! Sahara Sand, SC Classic Calico Vol 3 Geometry, Theresa Collins Now & Then Floral (Big Screen add-on)

The Event: Halloween Party 2006

The decor!

This layout was inspired by an Anthropologie ad…and used Bright Idea #13 – double grid.   This is classwork for Studio Calico’s February 2013 class.  Fun homework, eh?

I love the crashing witch!  LOL.  I used Phillip’s sweatpants, my turtleneck, Phillip’s rain boots, rubber gloves and a wigged witch hat.  I LOVE IT!  I get a big HEE HEE every time I see it.

The eyeballs are actually lights…the then BEAR den hung the lights in one of the trees.  They also put up the lighted skeleton emerging from the ground.  LOL.

The tin man pumpkin…I made!  😀  I think it’s so darn cute!  Boy…tell ya what…when painted pumpkin rots….whew.  😉

I almost used a whole roll of the woodgrain black washi tape.  yippee.  😉  I used my Dymo labeler and black embossing tape for the subtitles.  The title and the other labels are from an embossed sticker set I think I picked up from Oriental Trading.  I would venture a guess that the other stickers and the green bat paper are from Michael’s, but don’t quote me on that.  LOL.

It’s a little over six years later and I’m still having fun with this Halloween Bash!
